Banda Aceh, 29 November 2025 — A large-scale medical aid shipment from Malaysia arrived in Aceh on Saturday (29/11) at 19:00 WIB. A total of 2 million pieces of medicines and medical supplies weighing 2 tons landed at Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport, Aceh Besar, aboard a special cargo aircraft from Kuala Lumpur.
This delivery marks the first international medical aid shipment to successfully enter Aceh following the Cyclone Senyar disaster, which since 22 November 2025 has caused severe destruction across multiple regions of Aceh.
Cyclone Senyar triggered extreme rainfall of more than 400 mm within two days, resulting in flash floods and major landslides throughout Aceh. Preliminary data reports 47 fatalities, 19 missing persons, and tens of thousands of residents displaced.
The shipment was delivered by Gomez Medical Services together with the humanitarian team from Blue Sky Rescue Malaysia. The aid was mobilized quickly thanks to the close relationship between the Governor of Aceh, Muzakir Manaf (Mualem), and several pharmaceutical and medical industry leaders in Malaysia, who responded swiftly to Aceh’s emergency situation.
The spokesperson of the Aceh Transitional Committee (KPA), Bang Jack Libya, expressed deep appreciation for the medical support arriving from Malaysia.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to Gomez Medical Services, Blue Sky Rescue Malaysia, and the Malaysian public who have donated. This solidarity means so much to the people of Aceh amid the major disaster caused by Cyclone Senyar,” said Bang Jack.
He also urged the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to ensure that all aid channels—both domestic and international—face no obstacles.
“We urge the Central Government to give full support so that all international and national aid can enter Aceh without bureaucratic delays, customs barriers, flight permit issues, or logistical bottlenecks. In an emergency, speed is what saves lives,” he stressed.
Upon arrival in Aceh, the medical supplies were immediately integrated into the emergency distribution system for delivery to affected areas.
Additional aid from several international organizations is reported to be in the process of shipment and awaiting clearance.
